Alaska
Cruise Tours
What
is an Alaska cruise tour anyway? Well, many Alaska visitors
fly into Anchorage and explore Alaska by land then fly home. Others travel to
Alaska by cruise ship and fly home immediately upon arrival, missing the vast
majority of Alaska's spectacular scenery and attractions. A cruise tour combines
an Alaska land tour with a seven day Gulf of Alaska cruise for a complete Alaska
vacation experience of a lifetime.
Cruise tours are often referred
to as northbound or southbound depending on the direction of the cruise, while
a pre or post cruise land tour indicates whether you are touring Alaska by land
before your cruise or after. Gulf of Alaska
cruises travel between Seward or Whittier, Alaska and Vancouver, BC, and are 7 days
in length. Land tours can range from 3 to 10 days, with a length of 5 to 7 days
being the most popular. A typical northbound cruise tour would travel from Vancouver
to Seward or Whittier during week one with ports such as Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan,
and spectacular cruising in Glacier Bay, the Inside Passage, and Prince William
Sound. Week two would be a post cruise
land tour to popular destinations like Seward, Talkeetna, and Denali Park,
with a return flight home from either Fairbanks or Anchorage. A southbound cruise
tour would just be the reverse, with your flight from home to Fairbanks or Anchorage,
a pre cruise land tour, followed
by a cruise from Seward or Whitter to Vancouver. Travel on land can be by rental car, bus,
Alaska Railroad or a combination of the three, and nearly all packages can be
customized to your exact specifications. If you are looking for a fully escorted
land tour, we have a specific escorted land tour that matches up with a cruise departure from Seward or Whittier. For more information see our selection of Alaska
cruises, and our pre cruise or post cruise Alaska vacation packages.
