A number of cruise lines offer Gulf of Alaska cruise itineraries that sail between Vancouver BC and either Seward or Whittier Alaska. Most cruise passengers will fly in or out of Anchorage in conjunction with their Alaska vacation. The information on this page is designed to let you know what cruise transfer options are available between Anchorage and Seward or Whittier. But before we look at cruise transportation options, please let us offer you some important vacation planning advice. Your Alaska cruise vacation will simply not be complete unless you budget at least a few days to explore the land side of our great state. Seward Cruise Transfers
Holland America Line, RCCL, Regent Cruises and Celebrity Cruises all use the town of Seward as their “turn around” port for their Gulf of Alaska cruise itineraries. Seward is located about 125 road miles south of Anchorage, about 3 hours by road or 4 hours by rail. During the summer we offer two motorcoach departures and one rail departure each day in both directions. See the links below for more information. Again, we do not recommend flying into Anchorage on the day of your southbound cruise departure. If you are on a limited time schedule, at the very least, spend a night or two in an Anchorage hotel or Seward hotel. This will allow you start your cruise rested, and allow for unforeseen flight or luggage delays. Whittier Cruise Transfers
Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line both use the town of Whittier as their “turn around” port for their Gulf of Alaska cruise itineraries. Whittier is only about 60 road miles southeast of Anchorage. One of the unique features of Whittier, however, is that it is separated from Alaska’s road system by a 2.5 mile long tunnel that is shared by alternating one-way auto and railroad traffic. For this reason it is good to budget a couple of hours to reach Whittier by car, motorcoach or rail. During on cruise ship days we offer one departure each by motorcoach and rail from Anchorage to Whittier, and one departure by motorcoach from Whittier to Anchorage. See the links below for more information. Whittier accommodations are limited so be sure to plan a night or two at an Anchorage hotel before or after your cruise.
