Veendam Northbound Hubbard Glacier Itinerary

Day 1
Gateway to the Great Land, Vancouver serves as the point of embarkation for the Glacier Discovery. Arrive early to enjoy its many attractions; visit one of more than 180 parks including world-famous Stanley Park, tour historic Gastown and the second-largest Chinatown on the West Coast, or take a stroll through the combination of natural forest and parklands near the city center. Embark in Vancouver.

Day 2
Experience the scenic waterway that reaches from beautiful British Columbia to historic Ketchikan, Alaska. Carved by glaciers and blanketed with majestic hemlock and spruce, Alaska's Inside Passage is a region of pristine water, snow capped mountains, deep fjords and forested islands. With its mild, maritime climate, this area is prime habitat for bald eagles, sea lions, porpoise and whales. Much of the southern panhandle is part of the Tongass National Forest, a 16.8 million acre rainforest. Scenic Cruising of the Inside Passage.

Day 3
Built over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of the Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains. The main attractions of this community include Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village. There are also numerous galleries exhibiting Native art and works by talented local artisans. Port of Call Ketchikan.

Day 4
Haines resides in the Gold Rush National Historic Park and boasts restored buildings, wooden boardwalks, and the famed White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. Port of Call Haines.

Day 5
Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest or visit rustic shops in town. History Buffs can browse the Alaska State Museum and tour the town that is Alaska's state capital. Port of Call Juneau.

Day 6
Discover Alaska's Russian heritage beneath the onion domes of St. Michaels Cathedral and at a performance by the New Archangel Dancers. Stand on the spot where the United States took possession of Alaska in 1867 for $7.2 million, less than two cents per acre. Sitka's waters are teeming with abundant marine wildlife, visit current seal haul-outs or seabird rookeries. Port of Call Sitka.

Day 7
Stand in awe before North America's most massive tidewater glacier. Extending for miles at either end it originates on the slopes of Mt. Logan 76 miles away in Kluane National Park and spreads across a valley 40 miles wide. Where you sail into Disenchantment Bay, it towers 40 stories high. Wait for a mighty crack and the thunderous crash of icebergs the size of large buildings as they crash into the sea. Hubbard Glacier.

Day 8
The gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park is the scenic town of Seward. At the head of dramatic Resurrection Bay, towering Mt. Marathon provides a breathtaking backdrop for a historic downtown district filled with unique shops and the 90 million dollar Alaska Sea Life Center, a renowned research institute for marine wildlife in Alaska. Disembark in Seward.
