Volendam Southbound Glacier Bay Itinerary
Day 1
The gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park is the scenic town of Seward. At the head of dramatic Resurrection Bay, towering Mt. Marathon provides a breathtaking backdrop for a historic downtown district filled with unique shops and the 90 million dollar Alaska Sea Life Center, a renowned research institute for marine wildlife in Alaska. Day 2
Located in the northern sector of Prince William Sound, Alaska, sixteen tidewater glaciers, most named after renowned US East Coast colleges, make College Fjord a picturesque destination for cruise ships. Discovered in 1899, less than a century later it would be the epicenter of the Good Friday Earthquake of 1964, the most powerful earthquake in U.S. history. Scenic Cruising College Fjord.
Day 3
Cruise from the Reid and Lamplugh glaciers to the mighty Johns Hopkins. Surrounded by rugged peaks and a sheltered seal breeding ground, Glacier Bay National Park has more actively calving glaciers than anywhere else in the world. Day 4
Haines resides in the Gold Rush National Historic Park and boasts restored buildings, wooden boardwalks, and the famed White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. Port of Call Haines.
Day 5
Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest or visit rustic shops in town. History Buffs can browse the Alaska State Museum and tour the town that is Alaska's state capital. Port of Call Juneau.
Day 6
Built over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of the Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains. The main attractions of this community include Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village. Day 7
Experience the scenic waterway that reaches from beautiful British Columbia to historic Ketchikan, Alaska. Carved by glaciers and blanketed with majestic hemlock and spruce, Alaska's Inside Passage is a region of pristine water, snow capped mountains, deep fjords and forested islands. With its mild, maritime climate, this area is prime habitat for bald eagles, sea lions, porpoise and whales. Day 8
Gateway to the Great Land, Vancouver serves as the point of embarkation for the Glacier Discovery. Arrive early to enjoy its many attractions; visit one of more than 180 parks including world-famous Stanley Park, tour historic Gastown and the second-largest Chinatown on the West Coast, or take a stroll through the combination of natural forest and parklands near the city center. Disembark in Vancouver.
