Alaska
Railroad Denali Star
The Denali Star rail route travels north of Anchorage along the Knik Arm and
through the towns of Wasilla and Talkeetna. Heading north from Talkeetna you
will pass over Hurricane Gulch and Broad Pass before arriving at the railroad
station at Denali National Park. The bridge at Hurricane spans 918 feet, some
296 feet over the Chulitna River. Your trip from Denali Park to Fairbanks will
take you through Healy and Nenana and several other small communities. The entire
railroad trip spans over 350 miles and takes 12 hours. Nearly everyone breaks
the train trip up and stays in Denali National Park or Talkeetna for a few nights.
Your railroad journey offers a number of great views of Mt. McKinley, and an
excellent chance to see wildlife such as moose, bald eagles, and bear.

Alaska Railroad
Coastal Classic
The Coastal Classic rail route travels south of Anchorage along the spectacular
Turnagain Arm then rises through the Kenai Peninsula's scenic Turnagain and
Moose Passes before arriving in the quaint seaside town of Seward. The train
travels roughly 130 miles in each direction and takes about four hours one-way.
On your trip you will have an excellent chance to see glaciers and wildlife
such as moose, Dall Sheep, and beluga whales. Many people overnight in Seward
to enjoy a cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park, and a walk to the face of
Exit Glacier.

This trip has a convenient 10:00am departure time and will drop you off right at the cruise ship terminal in Whittier. Park Connection bus service from Anchorage to Whittier and Whittier to Anchorage is also available for cruise passengers.

Rates shown are for standard Alaska Railroad service. On the Denali Star you can also choose the Alaska Railroad GoldStar dome service for an additional $85 most runs ($110 between Anchorage and Fairbanks). Peak season
runs from June 1st through September 3rd, 2008. Children under
12 travel at 50% off adult price listed. Prices with an asterisk
require an overnight in Anchorage, not included in the price.
