Alaska Hiking - Taku Day Hike from Anchorage
Just 10 minutes from downtown is one of Anchorage’s favorite playgrounds. Chugach State Park is the third largest state park in the nation. Step away from the developed city of Anchorage and immerse yourself in its backcountry. Come explore this area on a guided hike and take in views of downtown Anchorage. Your hiking adventure takes you on a journey where you will experience the awe-inspiring backcountry trails of the Chugach Range. An easy hike up to 9 miles roundtrip with a maximum altitude gain of 1200 feet. Your safety certified guides provide information on trees, plants, flowers, wildlife, folklore and history of the area. Don't be surprised to see many types of wildlife, including eagles, Dall sheep, moose, birds, and more. So don't forget the camera and lots of film! Group sizes limited to 12. Lunch and water are provided, and vegetarian meals are available with advance notice. Upon arrival at the trailhead you'll listen to a safety briefing on the trail condition and area before starting your adventure. Transportation provided to and from all hikes. What To WearDue to unpredictable Alaskan weather, we advise dressing in layers, which will allow you to stay warm and dry as the outdoor environment changes. For this event, please also bring comfortable walking / hiking shoes or boots and a warm jacket that can shield you from wind or rain.
