Husky Homestead Tour 8:30 AM

Step back from the crowds and join an intimate group for a personal tour of the homestead and kennel of four-time Iditarod champion Jeff King and his wife, well known wildlife artist Donna Gates King. Their Husky Homestead is home to approximately 75 sled dogs. In the summer months the King family welcomes visitors from around the world to tour their kennel and learn about Alaskan Huskies, the sport of dog mushing and the life and spirit of Alaska, the last frontier. Share the enthusiasm of an Alaska mushing family and their sled dogs. Cuddle with a litter of puppies as you come to understand the special relationship between musher and dog, and their shared love of the outdoors. See summer training in action. View a variety of arctic survival gear, sleds and racing equipment, while you learn about state-of-the-art dog training techniques. You'll hear 20 years of Alaskan dog mushing stories, from freight hauling in Denali, to crossing the finish line in Nome with a champion Iditarod team. Enjoy this unique one and one-half hour narrated homestead tour. Transportation provided from most area hotels.

What To Wear

Due to unpredictable Alaskan weather, we advise dressing in layers, which will allow you to stay warm and dry as the outdoor environment changes. For this event, please also bring comfortable walking shoes and a jacket that can shield you from light wind or rain.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

A deposit equal to 30% of services reserved is due at the time of booking, with the balance due 45 days prior to your first day of travel. The following change and cancellation fees apply. Between 45 to 31 days prior to your first day of travel a 10% cancel/change fee will apply. Between 30 to 15 days prior to your first day of travel a 50% cancel/change fee will apply. Within 14 days of travel, your package is non-refundable and non-changeable. Because we cannot make exceptions to our cancellation or change policies for any reason, including family and medical emergencies, we STRONGLY encourage you to purchase travel insurance.
