Complete South Denali Park
Most travelers visit Denali Park via the main Park entrance located on the north side of the park at mile 237 of the Park Highway, and Alaska Tour & Travel highly recommends spending at least a couple of nights is this area. One great way to round out your Denali Park experience is to also add a night or two on the south side of Denali National Park in or near the town of Talkeetna. Talkeetna is a small Alaskan community that offers up a big slice of local Alaska flavor.
We offer a couple of great lodging choices near Talkeetna. Near town is the Talkeetna Alaska Lodge, a two-hundred plus room property that is Alaska native owned, and offers great views of Mt. Denali right from the grounds. About 45 minutes north of Talkeetna is another property with great views of the mountain, the McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Both properties are served by the Park Connection Motorcoach, and shuttle service is available for guests utilizing the Alaska Railroad.
Talkeetna area activities and tours from both lodges are plentiful including fishing, kayaking, hiking and jet boat trips. In addition, we highly recommend this area for a Mt. Denali scenic flight, and be sure to save some time just to wander "downtown" Talkeetna and take in the local character of this truly Alaskan small town.

Did you know? Due to Talkeetna's close proximity to Mt. Denali, the town is the primary staging area for climbers preparing to scale the mountain, and also makes Talkeetna a great spot for Mt. Denali scenic flights.
