Haines Alaska

Set atop the mainland approximately 70 miles north of Juneau, this community of 2400 is characterized by its place in gold rush history and as the first Army post in Alaska. Haines is the seasonal home to the 4,000 Bald Eagles that flock to take advantage of salmon spawning in the Chilkat River. Each year, Haines hosts numerous annual events including the Southeast Alaska State Fair, the King Salmon Derby, and the Alaska Bald Eagle Festival.

Haines offers several unique properties for overnight guests, including a hotel that originated as the officer’s quarters of historic Fort William H. Seward. Several bed & breakfast accommodations are also available for a memorable stay.
