- Copper River Whitewater Rafting
Alaska is as defined by mountains and tundra as it is by its rivers. Perhaps none other is as well known as the Copper River and its tributaries. This tour takes you onto the Klutina, one of those iconic waterways, for three hours of whitewater fun.
Splashy Class III rapids await.
But first, the trip starts with a 14-mile drive to your put in point. After suiting up in splash gear, boots, and lifejackets, it's into the raft and onto the river. The Klutina's current is swift, and as you race along it's hard to imagine that thousands of king and sockeye salmon make their way up this river every year.
A twisty, braided waterway with mostly Class III rapids await downriver. They're splashy and fast, and with your expert river guide in charge all you have to do is enjoy the ride. Through calmer sections be sure to scan the riverbanks for wildlife and the horizon for views of the mountains within Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The trip concludes with a shuttle ride back to the Copper River Princess Lodge.
