The average summer visitor to the Denali National Park area sees just a small part of this rugged, fascinating part of Alaska. That's why a private Jeep rental is ideal for those who've traveled to the area by train or coach and relish the idea of some extra independent exploration.

There are three directions to choose from once you have the keys to your Jeep in hand. Head north across Windy Bridge to Healy for a bite and a pint at the 49th State Brewing Company, or even further to Nenana and as far as Fairbanks. Or, you could head into Denali National Park itself, stopping to see the sites at interpretative pullouts along the Park Road. You can drive as far as Savage River at Mile 15, a picturesque spot with two top notch hiking trails.

Your final option is a southbound trip. Stop in for a pre-scheduled tour at the Husky Homestead if you'd like a glimpse into the world of Alaska dog mushing. If you go a bit further to Cantwell then you'll have plenty of time to drive some of the Denali Highway, a remote gravel road with unrivaled views of the eastern Alaska Range.

Rental includes a four-door 4x4 Jeep Wrangler with automatic transmission. Unlimited mileage. Maximum of four guests per car. Driver must be at least 25 years of age. Car seats and booster seats available with prior request.

What to Bring

Driver must provide a driver's license and a copy of U.S. or Canadian auto insurance that includes coverage of rented vehicles. If no insurance is available, the driver may purchase an insurance policy for an additional fee.

Special Instructions

Denali Park Private Jeep Rentals are authorized on any maintained dirt or gravel roads within Alaska including the Denali Highway.

Transfers & Meeting Points

The Jeep rental company can arrange transportation from most Denali area hotels, lodges, and RV parks to their office in the Denali boardwalk area. After rental return, guests can be dropped at their lodging or the Denali Park Depot.
