"I loved holding the puppies and learning about the process of raising and picking the dogs to pull the sleds. This is a must see when visiting Alaska."

Snuggly puppies welcome guests to the Husky Homestead on this popular tour in the Denali Park area. Soft and cuddly today, many of these young Alaskan Huskies will become champion sled dogs in just a few years.
The sled dogs' athleticism goes on full display.
Keeping with a long held Alaskan mushing tradition, the Husky Homestead raises and trains sled dogs. As the guided tour leaves the puppies behind, the kennel staff describes what makes these dogs such incredible athletes and details their care, nutrition, and training routine. The sled dogs' boundless energy is on full display throughout the tour. One thing is clear above all else: These dogs love to run.
From here, the tour moves inside for a presentation by one of the Husky Homestead's mushers. Gifted storytellers, they take guests behind the scenes of the "Last Great Race on Earth" and mushing in Alaska in general. On display are a racing sled and arctic survival gear like the essential full-body down suit. But, above all, guests learn about the unique relationship between musher and dog team. The pups are companions, teammates, and even saviors in some cases, navigating mushers safely through treacherous terrain and impossible conditions. It's a thoroughly entertaining look into one of Alaska's most beloved and important traditions.
The Husky Homestead is located a short drive from the Denali Park area. There is a small gift shop with souvenirs. Tours operate rain or shine.
A portion of the tour is conducted outside, so bring a coat or jacket, and wear comfortable close-toed walking shoes.
All guests to Husky Homestead will need to provide their own transportation. Directions will be provided after booking, as most GPS's and Google Maps do not go to the correct place (it's an Alaska thing). For the safety of the dogs, guests can arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to the tour start time and are asked to respect the posted speed limit.
