Overview
Located at Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood, the Alyeska tram rises 2,025 vertical feet above the valley floor to the Glacier Tram Terminal. Along the seven-minute ride, travelers climb above Sitka spruce trees and crest the North Face of Mt. Alyeska. The outlook at the top may be one of the most impressive in the state. On a clear day, there are panoramic views of the Turnagain Arm, two mountain ranges, and seven hanging glaciers. From the top of the tram, terminal visitors can explore the Glacier Bowl area or, depending on the season, search the hillsides for ripening blueberries and raspberries.
One of the most impressive views in the state.
During the summer, from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, tram riders can also visit the Roundhouse at Alyeska Museum. This historic building and small interpretive center display artifacts and photographs that tell the unique mining-meets-skiing story of Girdwood. The single-room museum perches off the outdoor viewing deck of the Glacier Tram Terminal.
Snacks, sandwiches, and beverages are available at the Bore Tide Deli & Bar. For a four-star dining experience, visit the Seven Glaciers restaurant. Both share the same impressive mountaintop views.
