Fly into Anchorage and pick up your rental car. Explore Anchorage on your own. Overnight Anchorage.
Today's full-day trip takes you north of Anchorage to one of the state's few road accessible glaciers. The Matanuska Glacier and landscape that surrounds it is breathtaking. After about two hours trekking on the glacier you'll head back to Anchorage in the early evening. Overnight Anchorage.
Your morning starts with a fun guided snowshoeing adventure outside of Anchorage. Afterward grab a hot beverage and well-earned treat or two for the drive to Seward. Keep your camera handy. The route is a National Scenic Byway. Overnight Seward.
The morning is yours to explore this quaint bayside community. Take a walk down the Iditarod Trail along Resurrection Bay, or spend some time in the Small Boat Harbor. Early this afternoon you're off on a spring wildlife cruise. Grey whales begin migrating through the area in March, so keep an eye out for those telltale blow spouts along the way. Overnight Seward.
After a visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center, you'll make your way back along the Seward Highway to Anchorage. Before you get there, take a spin through the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and nearby town of Girdwood. Enjoy a final overnight in downtown Anchorage.
