After a convenient pickup at your Anchorage hotel this seven-hour tour begins with a drive down the Turnagain Arm. A distinctive landscape home to Dall sheep, mountain goats, and even Beluga whales, the arm also sees one of the highest tidal ranges in the world. Enjoy the views and a few photo stops as you make your way about 40 miles to Girdwood.

Your first stop in this little ski town is for lunch at a local eatery before continuing to the Mt. Alyeska Tram. Keep your camera handy as you sweep nearly 2,000 vertical feet up the mountainside. In clear weather you'll have panoramic views of mountains and glaciers, but moose and black bear also frequent the meadows below.
Once you've come down from the tram, it's off to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Black and brown bears, wolves, moose, musk ox, lynx, foxes, wood bison, and even a few porcupines reside at the center. After plenty of time to explore and learn about these fascinating creatures, settle in for your return ride to Anchorage.
The Turnagain Turn Tour lasts about seven hours with a lunch in Girdwood, a ride up the Mt. Alyeska tram, tour of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and multiple stops for views and photos along the way. The trip is fully narrated by a driver-guide. Transportation is by comfortable Sprinter van.
Some of the tour is conducted outside, so be sure to dress for the weather. In the summer bring a rain jacket and hat. In winter months bring a warm hat, gloves, and winter coat. Both times of year plan to wear layers and sturdy closed-toed shoes or boots.
This excursion requires a moderate level of activity, with walks to/from the Alyeska tram and up to two miles walking at the conservation center.
