Travelers to Alaska are often amazed by the sheer scale of the state's landscape. This popular trip takes visitors deep into the heart of the biggest mountains, for an unforgettable flightseeing and glacier landing experience.
Complex landscape marked by rivers, ridgelines, and peaks.
Guests are provided with complimentary transfers from the Denali Park area to the Healy River Airport, where they meet their pilot and board a small single-engine bush plane. As soon as the plane takes off, the view reveals a dynamic and complex landscape marked by rivers, ridgelines, and peaks. The biggest of those mountains loom straight ahead. While providing narration and answering questions along the way, the pilot navigates an 80-mile approach into Denali National Park. This path can bring passengers within sight of the Polychrome Mountains, the famous Muldrow Glacier, and eventually the Great Gorge.
Descending into the gorge, a massive ice-filled canyon believed to be the deepest in the world, the plane passes granite cliffs and hanging glaciers before landing smoothly in the snowy Ruth Amphitheater. Passengers have 20 to 30 minutes to spend exploring, take photographs, or simply marvel at their otherworldly surroundings. The memorable tour concludes with an equally scenic return flight to Healy.
Guests on this fixed wing glacier landing tour fly in a small single-engine bush plane. All guests have a window seat and interactive head set to communicate with the pilot during the flight. The tour takes about 3.5 hours, which includes transfers, flight time, and 20 to 30 minutes on the glacier. The exact route is subject to change based on the weather.
What to Bring
Bring a jacket, sunglasses, hat, gloves, and camera. Wear comfortable close-toed shoes. Guests will be given overboots to wear on the glacier. No bags of any kind (including purses) are allowed on the plane.
Check in 30 minutes prior to flight departure. Accurate passenger weight is required for aircraft weight and balance. The flight operator carefully monitors weather in the mountains and will not fly if conditions are unsafe. Refunds are issued for flights cancelled due to weather.
The National Park Service requires that all passengers landing on the glacier have a National Park Pass. Unless guests have travelled or will travel into the park within seven days of their flight, a pass can be purchased from the tour operator.
Transfers & Meeting Points
The tour includes complimentary transportation from most Denali Park area hotels to the Healy River Airport. Self-drive guests must check in at least 30 minutes prior to their tour time.

"This was the high point of our trip. I was worried about going in a small plane, but once in the air I could not take in all the breathtaking views. It was probably the best sightseeing trip of our lives. Awesome!"
