The Wilderness Wave raft tour puts in at the Village River Launch. It is a 10-minute drive from the rafting operator's office where you'll gear up in dry suits and river shoes. The river at the launch is swift but smooth, curling through boulder gardens as it sweeps into a remote stretch of wilderness on the way to the Yanert River confluence.

Throughout the excursion you'll enjoy views of Mount Fellows, Sugarloaf, and Mount Healy as you float through mainly Class I and II whitewater. The tour concludes back in the Denali Canyon area with a short ride back to the operator office.

The full experience lasts about 3.5 hours, including check-in, outfitting, transportation, safety orientation, and rafting. Primarily Class I and II water with one Class III rapid, this trip is perfect for those seeking a relaxing river adventure. Children are welcome but must weigh at least 50 lbs (22.7 kg).

What to Bring

The Nenana River is glacially fed and cold even in summer. Be sure to bring plenty of warm layers. Wear or bring a long sleeve shirt or thermals, long sleeve sweater or sweatshirt, fleece or a vest with an outer layer without hood if possible. Warm socks and a warm hat are highly recommended.
