Advance Deposits

Confirming a trip with Alaska Tour & Travel requires payment of an advance deposit. We have taken a number of steps to safeguard these funds, and to help you feel comfortable booking with us.

Lower Deposit Policy

Choose to pay just a 10% deposit by credit card to confirm your reservation, and then make your final payment by check or electronic check 45 days prior to travel. This option gives you the convenience and security of paying for the bulk of your trip just before travel. We also offer a 30% deposit option if you prefer to make your final payment by credit card. If you need to make your final payment even closer to your travel date, for most reservations we can accommodate a final payment date as close as 21 days before travel.

More Flexible Refund Policy

Nearly everything we sell is fully refundable up until 31 days prior to travel with purchase of our Worry-Free Cancellation Waiver.

Separate Bank Accounts

All advance deposits collected from guests that will ultimately be paid to our suppliers are held in a separate bank account from our operating funds until after the guest has traveled. In case you are wondering, we define "advance deposits" as any payment we receive from guests more than 45 days prior to travel date, even if that guest is paying for their entire trip in full.

Our History & Reputation

We have been in the Alaska travel industry for 25 years and have seen our share of bumpy patches, from the Covid-19 pandemic to 9/11, SARS, the 2008 financial crisis, and H1N1 to a few truly Alaskan calamities such as earthquakes and volcanoes. We have been there for our guests every step of the way: Rebooking trips, going the extra mile, making alternative arrangements, and promptly refunding canceled trips when needed. This service record is backed up by our 20-year A+ rating with the BBB and over 1,000 five-star reviews with Trip Advisor, Google, and Facebook.

We Stand Behind Our Suppliers

Many trips we arrange for guests include up to 20 different services or more. This might include everything from a lodge owned by a large corporation to a small mom and pop raft company. Regardless of the size we don't release your payment to the supplier until after they have provided the service to you.
