Rafts and rafter on the Kenai River.

Kenai River Scenic Float

A family-friendly float down one of Alaska’s most beautiful rivers.

Overview

Flowing from the western Kenai Mountains, the turquoise blue Kenai River is a remarkable sight. On this mild water float trip, visitors enjoy the river's uniquely vibrant beauty and the landscape around it for three scenic hours.

Float for three peaceful hours down the river.

After guests suit up and push off into the mellow current, the rafting guide explains that super fine glacial silt gives the river its aqua hue. The color is no less stunning up close, and as the relaxing float continues, the water is a pretty contrast to the green trees and mountains that flank it.

The raft soon passes into the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. No motorized boats are allowed on the river here, so it is possible to see more wildlife than in busier places. Shaggy brown bears, bald eagles, water fowl, and even beavers can be spotted on the water. The raft guide points out these animals, as well as landmarks along the way, telling the natural and human history of this special waterway. After about three hours on the river, the trip concludes with a return shuttle ride back to the launch site.
