How to Get from Seward to Whittier

Transfer options from Seward to Whittier are limited due to demand, but travelers with a land package that ends in Seward and a cruise to catch out of Whittier do have a few options.

TAKE THE BUS

To travel from Seward to Whittier by bus you'll take two legs and transfer in Anchorage. The morning Park Connection Motorcoach departs Seward at 10:30 AM and arrives in Anchorage at about 1:30 PM. The cruise transfer to Whittier departs Anchorage at 3 PM. You'll have time to grab lunch or explore downtown.

BOOK A PRIVATE TRANSFER

Your most direct option is a private transfer from Seward to Whittier. You'll be met in Seward by your driver-guide and taken by Mercedes Sprinter Van directly to Whittier. You also have the option to turn your transfer into more of a tour by adding a couple hours and few stops along the way. Private transfers can accommodate up to eight guests. RIDE THE TRAIN

There is no same-day scheduled train from Seward to Whittier. Your best option is to take the evening Coastal Classic train, a private transfer, or the Park Connection Motorcoach to Anchorage or Girdwood, overnight there, and then take the Glacier Discovery train to Whittier the next morning.

DRIVE YOURSELF

If you're on a self-drive land package prior to your cruise, your better option is to plan to visit Seward but end in Anchorage. This saves you often costly drop-off fees, and you have some good options for connecting to Whittier from Anchorage on the day your cruise embarks.
